Our Methodology

Weight Index uses a structured, transparent methodology to research and present medication data, provider comparisons, and content guides. Here's how we work.

Drug Information

Sources

Our drug profiles draw from:

  • FDA-approved prescribing information (package inserts)
  • Published phase 3 clinical trial results (STEP, SURPASS, SURMOUNT, SUSTAIN, OASIS programs)
  • FDA drug approval documents and advisory committee briefings
  • Peer-reviewed meta-analyses and systematic reviews

What We Report

  • Efficacy data — weight loss percentages and HbA1c reductions from the primary endpoints of pivotal trials
  • Side effect frequencies — from the safety sections of prescribing information and trial publications
  • Dosing schedules — from the FDA-approved prescribing information
  • Cost data — from wholesale acquisition cost (WAC) databases, updated periodically

Provider Comparison

Our provider comparison evaluates telehealth and in-person providers on:

  • Pricing transparency — clearly published costs for consultations, medication, and follow-ups
  • Medication availability — which drugs they prescribe, brand vs. compounded
  • Clinical oversight — whether patients see licensed physicians, monitoring frequency
  • Insurance acceptance — whether they work with insurance or are cash-only
  • User reviews — community-submitted ratings and experiences

Content Guides

Our articles follow an editorial process:

  1. Research — Primary sources (clinical trials, FDA documents) are reviewed for the specific topic
  2. Writing — Articles are written by health content specialists with backgrounds in nutrition, pharmacology, or clinical medicine
  3. Medical review — Each article is reviewed by a board-certified physician for medical accuracy
  4. Publication — Articles include author credits, reviewer credentials, and publication/review dates
  5. Updates — Articles are updated when new clinical data or pricing information becomes available

News Coverage

Our daily news section aggregates GLP-1-related stories from major news sources. We use automated monitoring to identify relevant stories, then editorially review and summarize them with proper attribution to the original source.

Corrections
